Getting Older

I just got off the phone with my Mother and have been brought back to the reality that I am getting older. Although it is something we don't want to admit, it is definitely something that my friends and I are going to have to face.
I have had the privilege of growing up with the best group of friends that anyone walking this Earth could possibly have. We all grew up in a small town and have remained very close for the past 40-50 years. This year "2008" most of us will be celebrating our 50th birthdays. Wow! That is very hard to believe. As I look back on our class of 1976 I have to say that of all the classes from Chisholm High School we have aged very good. I have so many stories going through my head right now that it is hard not to get tears misty eyed or hold back the laughter. Gary and Sally are celebrating their 50th birthdays in a week and also their 20th wedding anniversary. Patti and I are really looking forward to going up and helping my classmates celebrate. It's tough to admit that we're getting older. However, I have to say that I've never felt better. I still can't believe that I will be 50 in a little less than 2 months. God! I really do relish life, friends, and family. I should also mention that I am so lucky to work with the most wonderful group of colleagues anyone could ask for. I have to admit that as much as I complain sometimes, life is pretty damn good. Thank you to my family, friends, and colleagues, and mostly Patti. I truly love you all.

Those birthdays that have the number zero often bring on a sense of mortality. That will pass a year or so after the fact and we get back to feeling invincible again. Till the next zero day.
