If you could have any one — and only one — bike in the world, what would it be?
I enjoy the bikes I have and would have difficulty spending an enormous amount of money on a bike. With that being said, if I could have any bike in the world it would either be a Surly Pugsley or a classic (80's or older) European steel dream machine. Italian made of course, along with only the finest classic components. However, in the end, I would probably go for the Pugs. Way more fun to be had on a Pugs. Absolutely no carbon in my future as I am not a fan of plastic. I don't care how light it is.
Do you already have that coveted dream bike? If so, is it everything you hoped it would be? If not, are you working toward getting it? If you're not working toward getting it, why not?
I'm content with what I have for now. Well, sort of. Actually looking at kayaks, so the bike thing will be placed on the back burner for now.
If you had to choose one — and only one — bike route to do every day for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?
That's a tough one. I wish I lived out west because there are hundreds of rides I would love to do.
I guess it would have to be somewhere out there. Wide open spaces with a lot of dirt. Moab or Fruita I guess, but to choose a particular route.
What kind of sick person would force another person to ride one and only one bike ride to do for the rest of her / his life?
I don't know, but they would certainly have to be a really sick bastard.
Do you ride both road and mountain bikes? If both, which do you prefer and why? If only one or the other, why are you so narrow minded?
I ride both, but my heart is with mountain biking. Road riding is fine for training and the speed is fun, but I would rather be in the woods away from traffic and crowds. I am a nature boy at heart. Always have been and always will be.
Have you ever ridden a recumbent? If so, why? If not, describe the circumstances under which you would ride a recumbent.
Never have, but I feel that each passing year brings me one step closer.
Have you ever raced a triathlon? If so, have you also ever tried strangling yourself with dental floss?
Yes, I have done a couple. Swimming sucks! No, to the dental floss strangulation.
Suppose you were forced to either give up ice cream or bicycles for the rest of your life. Which would you give up, and why?
For sure ice cream. I have other things that I enjoy more than ice cream.
What is a question you think this questionnaire should have asked, but has not? Also, answer it.
If you could participate in one race or ride, which one would it be? Answer: Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival or the Arrowhead 135.
You’re riding your bike in the wilderness (if you’re a roadie, you’re on a road, but otherwise the surroundings are quite wilderness-like) and you see a bear. The bear sees you. What do you do?
Sit calmly observe and enjoy the opportunity. Also, probably snap a few photos.
I don't have a lot of meat on my bones so I wouldn't be too alarmed about being eaten. Very little nutritional value in a skinny Italian.
Amigo Kenny said he would share a Hammer blueberry flavored gel because bears love blueberries of course. I thought this was great, but I believe you should never feed wild animals.
I guess that now I am supposed to tag three other bloggers. I apologize for this, but I must tag the following folks:
Madonna (Not the famous one)
Doug in Duluth
TOB (The Old Bag)
