Tired, Hungry, but Satisfied

Saturday found me with a goal...5-6 hours of saddle of time. Today finds me not really wanting to type up a boring narrative about my ride. I'll admit it...I am not a writer so from now on only a few words and I'll let the photos tell the story unless of course I am truly inspired.

The previous day had been wet and we had storms and rain overnight so I new the mountain bike and horse trails would not be good to ride. This left me with the option of a road ride or a gravel ride on the 29er.

Of course the gravel option once again won over so it was inevitable that I would be riding alone. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again...I AM NOT A ROADIE! For this I do not apologize.

I ended up with being gone for 5 hours and 44 minutes. About 5 hrs. and 25 minutes of that was actual ride time. Every minute of it was a pleasure because I had time to take in the surroundings and enjoy the beauty without worrying about pace, or keeping a pace line and having to watch the wheel in front of me. Yah! I know I probably won't get any faster, but that is not what riding is all about for me.

I too enjoy the gravel. Our only issue with gravel here in the Up North WI is some roads are more sand than gravel...I try to choose the well graveled ones. Looks like you have some nice roads you are riding.

I'll take what I can get so close to the Twin Cities. Southern and southeastern MN have some awesome gravel also, but much of it is too open for me.

Nothing beats the forest roads of Northern Minnesota. I love those roads and trails up in the Hayward and Cable area also. You are right about the sand however.

I have the same riding mindset, I'm out there for the experience, not to hammer the whole way and miss everything going on around me. Looks like a great ride!
