Good Morning!

For as long as I can remember I have been an early riser. Generally, during the week, I am up by 4:15 a.m. each morning. Lately I've been sleeping a bit later on the weekends just to get caught up with sleep missed during the week.

This morning however was different. I was awake by 5 a.m. and at the park by 6. Yesterday's ride left me excited and I wanted to make the best of this day. My plan was simple...on the trails early, done riding early, meet Patti for breakfast, and then go home and do things around the house.
There are times when getting up early is very well worth it and today was definitely one of those days. I've always felt the mornings and evenings were the best times of the day.

Dawn did not disappoint. It was an absolutely spectacular morning. With my legs weary from the previous days of riding, it took a while for me to find my rhythm, but once I did all was good. Like I told my friend yesterday, "It just doesn't get any better than this."

The temperature at 6 a.m. was 29 (F) and I wanted to be on the trails while they were still firm. For snow biking...colder is often times better. I was fortunate enough that the snow was still firm which made riding just tad bit easier.

Breakfast with Patti was a perfect way to top off the morning. After that it was domestic stuff for most of the day. Finish hanging Christmas lights, taking care of the bird feeders, hanging a blind in the office, clearing the deck and patio of snow, and then, of all things...cleaning my 29er in the driveway and doing some simple maintenance on it and the Pugsley.

Now as I sit here in front of the fireplace enjoying a glass of wine, my thoughts drift to the northwoods and the hope that I can get up there next weekend. I'm also thinking about the rest of winter and what sort of adventures lay in store. As winters go, I think that this will be a good one.

Thanks Doug! I try to enjoy it whenever I can.

You get to experience from your bike every morning of the week. I respect you a great deal for that.

Awesome pictures Bill!!
Gotta agree the early morning is the best!!
We're getting another 6-8" of the white stuff from Monday afternoon through Tuseday. :))
Things should be nicely packed if you make up this weekend!

Peace, Joe

Yes, morning rides are the way to go, especially in the summer. Currently the sun rises at 9 am, which in practice is a little late to have time to enjoy it.

I'm not a morning person at all, so thanks for showing me what I'm missing. I might just have to get my lazy butt out of bed early one of these days!

Apertome...My wife and the majority of my non-biking friends think I'm crazy.

You're not crazy, just a _ _.
That's why I love you just the way you are! Time to meet for happy hour, next wed? 3 SQ?

As I sit here at 6.00 having awakened at 4.45, I understand exactly where you're coming from. I've been getting up early and walking before the school day and now the body craves the motion. If I weren't walking with my mom at 8.00 I'd already be out there now.

Great pics and fun to see 2 wheels rolling when it's "too cold".
