What a phenomenal day to get out and ride in the park. The sun was finally shining after nearly a weeks worth of rain.
The photo above is very deceiving because it gives the appearance that the trails are already drying out. In reality, I've never seen the park with more water. The low lying areas are still very wet and I'm guessing that we are in for a bumper crop of mosquitoes.
That being said, it was nice to get off the paved trails and back into the woods. The new single track remains closed and it was good to see that riders are obeying the signs and staying out. Trail work begins in earnest once again this Wednesday evening. With luck, they will open sometime at the beginning of June.
As you can see in the photo above there is still plenty of water and this was one of two trails that I found to be impassable. Well, they appear to be impassable, but I was in no hurry to test the waters.
High areas are still draining after all the rain and many of the horse trails were, well, extremely wet and muddy. My bike now has approximately three weeks worth of mud coating it and it is ready for a good cleaning. Time to get out the tooth brush and go to work.
I hope everyone else was able to get out for a ride and enjoy the weather today. Unfortunately, it's now also time to get caught up with all the yard work that needs to get done

Rode in some nasty cold off lake winds, but well worth it.
