36 Years Ago Today

Painting by Capt. Bud Robinson

Thirty-six years ago today I was a seventeen year old with an adventurous soul. I skipped school and decided to head down to Duluth for a XC ski sale that was taking place at the Ski Hut and also the Continental Ski Shop. I was in need of new skis and some other gear for winter camping.

Little did I know what the day would bring. One thing I will never forget is going to the lake shore and watching the giant waves crashing upon the rocks. I've spent a lot of time around Lake Superior and have never seen anything like what I saw on November 10, 1975. The lake was very angry. I still get a chill down my spine when I talk about or think about it.

Hi.
What a fantastic post! Although I've heard that song plenty of times, I never really put it together. The fact that it's somewhat recent history and the scope of the tragedy. Its' interesting how you remember exactly where you were. Wow.
