Night Riding

Last night was my first night ride since my winter adventures that I took up north and locally here on the frozen lakes and trails surrounding the west metro area that I live in. I had almost forgotten how exhilarating it is to be on a mountain bike at night.
Lighting the trails up with 150 lumens makes it much safer than one would think. The light is very small, but it really kicks out the candle power. Some of the low spots were quite foggy and it gave the ride a kind surrealistic feel. Every now and then a deer would jump or run across the trail in front of me. One came frighteningly close.
Just happy to be out riding and not sitting at home doing school work. I'm looking forward to many more of these this fall.

Hi Bill. What kind of lights are you running there? I'm looking to perhaps get a setup for some evening rides. Thanks, Chad

I'm running the Nite Rider MiNewt on the handlebars. It will kick out 150 lumens on high. For my helmet I generally use the Topeak Moonshine, but last night I just threw on one of Petzl's that I use for camping.
