Lake Superior's North Shore

Two weeks ago we spent several days up on the North Shore of Lake Superior. I did a couple of phenomenal bike rides on various forest roads in Superior National Forest. We also did some hiking on the Superior Hiking Trail, and spent a good deal of time just relaxing and enjoying the various moods of Lake Superior.

I was totally uninterested in writing up a long detailed narrative on my rides and the rest of our week. So, I'll just share some images from the time we spent up there.

I will say this...The rides were tough, with a lot of climbing that ranged anywhere where from an easy 5%-7% grade all the way up to 20% in some spots, but they were a good deal of fun despite the voracious deer flies. Now I can believe those stories about bugs being so bad they can drive a person mad. I believe I may have let out a couple of angry maddening screams myself more than once along the way. The hiking we did was amazing, and as always Lake Superior itself was phenomenally beautiful
.

As of late I have continued to develop my on going relationship with the new single track trails at Elm Creek Park Reserve.

I hope you enjoy the images.

Hey Bill

Great pics, thanks for sharing. What camera did you end up buying? I'm in the market for a new one and the panasonic dmx lx5 is at the top of my list.

thanks

Thanks Karen:) I've primarily been using my Canon S95 and absolutely love it. The Panasonic LX5 is now on the top of my list.

I also use Canon T1i with Tamron lenses but I just don't like the bulkiness of the DSLR.

Bill, you do have the "eye". Great work. Funny how many of us end up using our smaller, more portable cameras over our DLSRs'. Your choice of the LX5 is a great one. I've been using a Lumix ZS1 with great results, but the LX5 would be really cool.
