If you know me well enough, you know that I am not fond of pavement. I would prefer dirt and gravel any day of the week, but every now and then a little change is good for the soul. So, this was one of those weekends that I decided to get out and enjoy the road. Patti and I were visiting family in Rochester and I was able to get out on the road both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
As it turned out, the weather was absolutely perfect for getting out on the road bike and I must admit that I did enjoy both of my rides.
I was fortunate enough to encounter very little traffic on most roads and when I did the drivers were very tolerant, respectful, and friendly.
Pine Island, Minnesota is a really nice little farm community not far from Rochester.
I'm wishing that I had a cross bike of some sort because the gravel farm roads in this part of the state look very inviting. There are plenty of them to ride and they provide a rider with a good challenge as the course used for the Almonzo 100 is proof.
I had my hind end on the saddle of a very nice Salsa Vaya this weekend while visiting Rochester Cycle...Unfortunately, my wife kind of burst my bubble:(
Where there is a will, there is a way:)

Sounds like a great weekend, except for that bubble bursting part.
